International renowned artist headlines a talented all Canadian line-up for animal welfare! Steven Page teams up with Ontario SPCA for a life saving concert

“I’m excited to be participating in this fun yet important event!" says Steven Page. "As a dog lover and owner (if that’s the right word!), I am grateful for the work of the Ontario SPCA; this will be an evening to remember as we support all of the animals in need across Ontario."

The evening is themed around a young dog named Rocky! Rocky was severely abused and neglected and was close to death when he was rescued by Ontario SPCA investigators.

While Rocky has had a challenging recovery, he is now on the road back to having a chance for a new life with a forever home. Rocky’s story represents the thousands of animals the Ontario SPCA and its communities encounter every day. This concert is to support all the Rockys out there. It is a chance to enjoy a wonderful evening of talented singer songwriters and supporting animal welfare in the province!

Right now, the demand for the Society’s investigation services has reached critical levels. Last year alone, Ontario SPCA investigators responded to 12,819 complaints of animal cruelty, issued 1,618 orders, laid 124 criminal charges, and removed 1,991 animals from life-threatening situations. Last year more than 11,000 animals were adopted through Ontario SPCA and its communities. Live and Unleashed will directly support the rescue and adoption services of the Ontario SPCA.

Steven Page's distinctive voice is among the most instantly recognizable in Canadian music and Page One, Steven's newest album, is immediately familiar but undeniably fresh as he captains the ship in the album's opener, "A New Shore". Page One marks his first solo release since leaving the highly-successful band he co-founded, wrote and performed with for more than 20 years, Barenaked Ladies. Steven Page will tell you that the themes explored in Page One are those of love, loss, and new beginnings. These are universally felt, and no less so for Page.
