Ontario SPCA seeks information from the public after kittens found dead in pet carrier

IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Dufferin County, ON (October 31, 2018) – The Ontario SPCA is seeking information from the public after two kittens were found deceased inside a pet carrier on County Road 3 in East Garafraxa.

The Ontario SPCA received a call on October 23, 2018 that a passerby had discovered a pet carrier in a ditch on the south side of County Road 3 in East Garafraxa, between the 18th Line and 19Th Line.

Two kittens in advanced stages of decomposition were found inside the light blue-coloured carrier, along with a blue pet bed and a navy blue pillow case. The kittens are estimated to have been approximately four months old. One kitten may have been a medium-hair brown tabby and the other may have had all black hair. The animals were not microchipped or wearing a collar.

“If you witnessed anything unusual in that area leading up to the date when these kittens were discovered, please report that information so that we can follow up accordingly,” says Alison Green, Senior Inspector, Ontario SPCA. “We are trying to determine who owned these kittens and the circumstances surrounding their death.”

Anyone with information that could assist in this investigation is asked to call the Ontario SPCA’s province-wide animal cruelty hotline at 310-SPCA (7722), or email cruelty@ospca.on.ca. All calls are confidential.
