Ontario SPCA seeks information from the public to locate injured dog
IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Ottawa, ON (August 15, 2017) – The Ontario SPCA is seeking information from the public to help locate an injured dog in Ottawa that requires veterinary attention.
On August 10, 2017, an Ontario SPCA officer attended a residence in Ottawa after receiving a concern about the welfare of a dog. They located a thin Rottweiler-type dog that was not bearing weight on her right hind leg. Orders were issued under the Ontario SPCA Act to the dog’s owner to have the animal examined by a veterinarian.
When the owner failed to comply with those Orders, a warrant was executed to remove the dog from her care. The Ontario SPCA was unable to retrieve the dog from the owner.
Ottawa Police were called in when the woman refused to cooperate and fled with the dog. They were last seen travelling on foot at around 4:15 p.m. on August 11, 2017 near Wellington Street and Pinhey Street in the Hintonburg area.
The dog is a black and tan Rottweiler that answers to Lucy. She was last seen wearing a red “service dog” vest. The dog has a swollen right hind leg and was having difficulty walking.
The owner of the dog is a 28-year-old woman, approximately 5’4” and 170 lbs. She has long black hair and a piercing on her right eyebrow. She was last seen wearing black spandex capris, a black shirt and black mesh gloves.
“We are very concerned for the well-being of this dog,” says Bonnie Bishop, Senior Inspector, Ontario SPCA. “This dog was in considerable pain and requires immediate veterinary attention.”
If you have any information about the location of this dog, please contact 310-SPCA (7722) immediately.
